Onslow Solar Eclipse & Dark Sky Festival

Total Solar Eclipse
20TH APRIL 2023
On the 20th April 2023, Onslow will experience a Total Solar Eclipse just off the coast, with 99% totality. This phenomenal event will be a rare Hybrid Solar Eclipse, where the sun, moon and earth align.
Bookings are now open at the Onslow Beach Resort for this Eclipse Event.
Looking through special solar filters, you will see the Moon appear as a black disc blocking the Sun. As more of the Sun is covered, you may notice your environment change, including a drop in temperature and changes in light quality. Once the Sun is over 95% covered, these changes will become more noticeable. At 99% the sky will darken, a tiny sliver of the Sun remaining, and it may feel ‘eerie’. It will be an absolutely awe-inspiring experience on the Onslow Foreshore.
The Shire has organised a Festival of Events for the Onslow Eclipse 2023. Starting 15th April with a Cinema Under The Stars, 19th April Welcome to Town Pool Party, 20th April the Solar Eclipse Street Party, 21st April Family Fun Day and 22nd April a Solar Eclipse Concert.

Hola Amigos, Onslow Beach Resort has joined the Staircase to the Moon Festival! We’re staging a Mexican Fiesta on the Beach Club lawns! Come and join us at our pop-up bar and kitchen. Grab a drink and enjoy a bite of authentic Mexican cuisine. All dishes will be served as takeaway, giving you the opportunity to wander the festival and enjoy the other stalls and attractions. The restaurant is also open for seated dining, featuring a fiesta style menu with favourites including steak sandwiches, chicken burgers, pizzas and char-grilled steaks, dine in or takeaway. Please note that we will be using cash only at our pop-up bar and any alcoholic drinks must be consumed on the premises.

The Mother’s Day Classic Onslow is a fun run/walk that raises funds for vital breast cancer research by donating proceeds raised from the event and from participants’ fundraising to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It’s all about raising awareness and honouring those impacted by the disease, as well as funding vital research into detection, treatment, and prevention.
Join us for a fun 4km run and walk starting from the Onslow Beach Resort, along the beach, up to the back beach BBQ area and back along the boardwalk, all for a worthy cause!
